Mother and daughter team, Joan Bauer and Laura Leah English, wanted to make a difference. After a devastating loss of a beloved dog to cancer, they began a journey that would do just that. In 1996 they founded the Pet Planet concept with a single retail store in south Calgary. That single store not only changed their lives but fulfilled their purpose to leave a legacy. Their focus was animal nutrition and health. Their motivation was to improve an industry.

The passion shared by mother and daughter for total pet wellness now guides the Mission of the company and inspires our employees as they strive to further people's awareness surrounding the physical and mental health of domestic animals.

The results have been outstanding. Today, just 10 years later, Pet Planet employs 100 full time staff. Recognized and respected in the industry as a leader and innovator, Pet Planet services have expanded to encompass retail locations, grooming salons, a resort, and daycare facilities.
