It begins with a strong family unit and the desire to leave a legacy. The concept flourishes under the lasting memory of beloved dogs no longer with us. Our motivation to set new standards in the pet industry can be summed up in one word. His name was Reuben.
Reuben was an example of everything that can go wrong. A Cocker Spaniel who stole our hearts, he was purchased from a backyard breeder and from the beginning was not a healthy dog. We were misguided every step of the way, from nutrition to training. We only wanted what was best for him but the abundance of erroneous information lead to a very painful end. Reuben was not genetically strong and he had serious temperament issues. Even when we asked, pet industry workers never offered us any information on the differences in pet foods. Therefore we believed the high budget TV advertising and fed him very low quality foods devoid of any nutrients. He died of cancer at 7 years old.
The relationship with a pet can be one of the most rewarding experiences a human can have and when we invite a pet into our family we become entirely responsible for that animal's life. The issues relating to domestic animal welfare have become our passion. Problems associated with poor quality commercial diets are seen everyday at veterinary offices. Surrenders to Humane Societies and other agencies are abundant and reasons for surrender vary from "we weren't prepared for what it takes" to "he has behavior problems". Over-population of unwanted animals is a direct result of irresponsible breeding and selling of pets. Pet Planet was created to make a difference to these unsightly statistics.
Our dedicated management team and associates are the pillars of our success. Building something from nothing is a challenge and cannot be accomplished without people who carry the same passion to change an industry. We employ the best and are proud of them.
Why have we created Pet Planet? Because every decision you make for your pet really does matter.
